you have to have something like this to get the water started straight down, these did that and were easy to install.

Gutter Adapter

Bought this same adapter last year from the same company and this year decided to finish the other two downspouts and for the second time received great product and shipping. As an update to this post, when I installed the adapter I used a hole saw that I had purchased to install deadbolts on our garage doors. They were a perfect size hole for these adapters when installed into the gutters. Used roofing caulk (Black tar type) between the adapter and the gutter. Over a year now and no leaks between the gutter adapter and the gutter. (Would post a picture if possible).

Created my own rain chains bought a "bucket of chains from Harbour Freight) using this attachment to my gutters...look marvelous! A very reasonable and affordable alternative.
